Ways to Give

Two unique vehicles for giving charitable gifts to consider are Appreciated Securities (i.e. stocks, mutual funds, or ETFs) and IRA Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs). Both of these options provide tax benefits for the taxpayer.

  • Appreciated Securities: Donating long-term appreciate securities (rather than cash) is one of the most tax-advantaged methods of charitable giving. With a potential tax deduction and avoidance of capital gains tax, a donor can significantly increase the impact of his or her charitable giving. Click here to learn more.
  • IRA Qualified Charitable Distributions: IRA owners older than 70 ½ can make a QCD by directing gifts to qualified charities from an IRA. The taxpayer benefits because the donation is excluded when determining Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) thus producing tax saving opportunities. Click here to learn more.

If you would like to make a gift of stock or a QCD, please contact Karolyn Dale at 619-906-4923.

Planning Giving

You can make a lasting impact on San Diego’s next generation with a planned gift. As you are considering your legacy, please consider making a gift to JA San Diego that will continue for years to come. A bequest is a great way to carry on supporting the causes that matter to you. Through your will, estate plans or adding Junior Achievement as a beneficiary of your retirement accounts, you can make a difference. If you have already listed Junior Achievement of San Diego as a beneficiary in your will, please let us know so that we may properly recognize you and your commitment. To learn more about Planned Giving with Junior Achievement, please contact Karolyn Dale at 619-906-4923.
