Young entrepreneur, Deven Sharma remembers when a JA volunteer came to his classroom and taught him lessons on starting a business, managing money and how to plan for a successful future. At the time, he was unaware that the skills he learned that day would have a such a significant impact on his life. Years later, Deven faced some big personal challenges that prompted him to use the knowledge he gained through those lessons to turn his family's life around.
At the age of 12, Deven started a car consulting business and at the age of 16, used his company's profit to provide financial stability for his family. He was even able to buy a car for himself!
Deven credits JA for his entrepreneurial success and for the knowledge and confidence to overcome the struggles he faced.
"Junior Achievement has been an incredibly impactful organization for me. The Junior Achievement representative who walked into my 1st grade classroom was the first person who explained to me how business worked. I will forever be grateful for that, as starting a business so early in my life would’ve been unlikely without Junior Achievement. I owe much of my success to that early start. All kids should have the opportunity that I had to learn about business. It’s such an empowering concept that you control your own destiny by creating value for others." - Deven Sharma
