Program Sessions

Two Options Available:

Job Shadow: (2-4 hours) A company hosts a class of students at their workplace to provide a company overview, on-site tour, career panel, hands-on project-based activity and practice essential skills. Students are empowered by the mentorship of the employee volunteers and by seeing the workplace and culture in action. They learn about needed soft skills for being successful in the workplace and the wide variety of careers necessary for the host company to function effectively. Coordination, planning assistance and event support provided by JA staff. (Grades 9-12)

Reverse Job Shadow/Career Guest Speaker: (1-2 hours) An industry volunteer visits a classroom to provide a presentation about their career and education background, company overview, current job responsibilities and hands-on demo/activity. Students benefit from having professionals share their firsthand accounts of the possibilities within their industry, where their careers journey have taken them and by being able to discuss college/career questions. (Grades 6-12)
