2020-2021 JA San Diego Company Program Competition

JA Company Program empowers high school students to fill a need or solve a problem in their community and teaches them practical skills required to conceptualize, capitalize, and manage their own business venture. Throughout the process of building their own company students collaborate, make crucial business decisions, communicate with multiple stakeholders, and develop entrepreneurial knowledge and skills. Community volunteers and mentors provide real-world guidance and experience to the student-led startup. At the end of the semester-long program, student teams submit business plans and pitch their products/services at the JA Company Program competition, where they are judged by local business executives on their company’s ingenuity and business acumen.

2020-2021 JA Company Program Competition Overview:

2019-2020 Competition Recap:

Thank you to everyone who participated in JA Company Program 2019-2020. Over 800 San Diego County students participated in the program this year, and 95 students, representing 19 student companies, joined us for the Virtual Company Program Competition!
These 95 students worked through great adversity as their school locations closed and they were asked to stay at home indefinitely.  They found a way to continue business planning and development.  They polished their company reports and presentations.  On April 29th, they pitched to a panel of local business leaders via Zoom.  We couldn’t be more proud of these students!  All of the presentations were fantastic and professional!

Our San Diego JA Student Company of the Year, SoCal Sweatsuits, was one of 15 teams chosen nationwide to compete in the JA USA National Student Leadership Summit!
