JA Company Program Spring 2020 Session

Join our spring cohort, and take your students on an entrepreneurial journey!

What is involved?

  • Semester-long program with 13 two hour in-class or after-school sessions
  • A local business-minded volunteer will mentor the students (recruited by JA)
  • The program utilizes both digital and printed resources
  • Students will learn the key elements of organizing and operating a business
  • Optional PitchFest and Spring Competition events available
  • CTE classes such as engineering, health pathways and computer science are welcome
  • Start date typically correlates with the start of the second semester

Volunteers: How can you get involved?

We are looking for business-minded volunteers for the roles below:

  • Mentor: Be a classroom mentor with 7-9 classroom visits over 13 weeks (8-12 hour time commitment total). As a mentor, you can work alone or with co-mentor(s). Mentoring will begin in late January/early February, and curriculum and training are provided.
  • Subject Matter Expert: Bring your real world experience to the classroom as a guest speaker on topics such as ideation, marketing, sales, business plans, etc. (1 hour commitment)
  • Judge: Judge and provide feedback for student company pitch sessions (3-5 hour time commitment).

To become a Mentor, Subject Matter Expert or Judge, please complete the VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION as soon as possible to give us time to match you with a class of students. Once you have registered, you will be contacted about timing, dates mentors, funding, etc. Please forward this to any colleagues that might be interested!
