ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PROGRAMS

McGrath Family JA Biztown

  • This is an in-person, one day volunteer opportunity. Volunteers help 5th grade students run their shops during our Biztown simulation.

MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAMS

Mission Fed JA Finance Park

  • This is an in-person, one-day volunteer opportunity. Volunteer helps teach students about personal finance and assist our budgeting simulation where students must learn to manage a month's worth of adult finances.

JA Company Program

  • The time commitment for this programs varies and can be in-person or virtual. Volunteers can serve as a:
    • Mentor: Be a classroom mentor with 4-7 classroom visits over 14 weeks (4-12 hour time commitment total). As a mentor, you can work alone or with co-mentor(s). Curriculum and training are provided.
    • Subject Matter Expert: Bring your real world experience to the classroom (in person or virtually) as a guest speaker on topics such a design thinking, marketing, sales, business plans, etc. (1 hour commitment per classroom)
    • Judge: Judge and provide feedback for student company pitch sessions (2-5 hour time commitment)

JA Stock Market Challenge/JA Take Stock of Your Future

  • The time commitment for this programs varies and can be in-person or virtual. Volunteers assist in teaching the curriculum and provide insight on investing in the stock market. (3-5 hour commitment)

JA Fellows

  • The JA Fellows program is designed to connect 11th and 12th grade students to San Diego’s business community through a year-long leadership and work-based learning experience. The program provides students with the foundational knowledge of the local economy, personal finances, career pathways, and work-readiness. The cohort model provides students with social capital (industry mentors), financial capital (scholarship and paid work-based learning opportunities), and real-world experiences directly connected to San Diego’s industries.
  • The time commitment for this program varies and can be in-person or virtual.

All in-person volunteers must provide proof of a COVID vaccination or a negative test within 72 hours.
